A statue of Joseph Ward, founder of Yankton College and a founding father of South Dakota's statehood was installed into Statuary Hall of the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C. in the fall of 1963. Also pictured are two of Joseph Ward's children -- Margaret Howard Ward, Sheldon Ward and Ward's great-grandson Joseph Ward III.
